Goddess of Life was based on a bizzare dream which led to the surrealist subject matter, inclusion of contrasting imagery and infinite space. Using the photograph and paint, I created a heightened surreal image from an ordinary one. It was later pointed out that the display of the guava fruit, worshipped in the Goddess' hands, was a suggestively sexual symbolism of womanhood. While that was not my original intent, I will not overlook the possible freudian slip in the imagery. What is the purpose of art if it is not meant to be read into by an overly eager audience?
