My name is Dani Lachuk, and I live in Kelowna, British Columbia. I am a local artist specializing in Acrylic paintings of portraits, figures, and architectural subject matter. I am also interested in freelance illustration as a future career path.
In 2004, after graduating from the University of British Columbia Okanagan with a Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in Painting, I attended the University of Victoria to obtain a Teaching Certificate. During my year long practicum, I taught Visual Arts (2-D and 3-D) and Media Arts (Photography and Video) from grades eight to twelve. In September, I took a teaching contract in London, England teaching Secondary School Visual Arts. After the completion of my contract, I realized that my skills were better suited to professional art production, not solely within the education of art.
Upon returning to Canada, I took various contract jobs in the art department of the film industry. This allowed me the opportunity, between contracts, to create artwork full time, with a focus on works appropriate for commercial illustration. My work is displayed for sale at various locations in Kelowna, and I am open to creating commission works at the request of patrons.
